Book Beat: Local authors release new books

Several local writers have recently released books that are available on Amazon and other online outlets:

Joel Reitman of Peconic has published “B Is for Brooklyn, D Is for Dog,” a series of essays that take a reader “from the first dog in his life through a series of race car years to memories of Brooklyn,” according to a press release.

Mr. Reitman was born in Brooklyn, grew up in California and returned to New York after college. He taught art and special education and, after his retirement, wrote for weekly newspapers. His book came about after he attended a memoir workshop in Southold.

Lili Nealon, a former resident of Southold and Cutchogue, has published her first book, “Twin Stories — Cuentos Gemelos: Stories of Love and Magic in Two Languages,” written in both Spanish and English.

Ms. Nealon is a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and moved to the United States at age 13. According to a release, she worked on Wall Street, then began visiting her native country, “seeking her roots and finding her heart in her writing.” Now a full-time writer, Ms. Nealon divides her time between Boulder, Colo., and Buenos Aires.
