Cops: Greenport woman caught with suspended license, drugs

A Greenport woman was arrested on drug charges in Laurel Saturday after she was stopped for following the car in front of her too closely, Southold Town police said.

Kaylie Onusaitis, 25, was stopped around 11:19 p.m. on Route 25 and officers noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from her car, police said.

Ms. Onusaitis consented to a vehicle search, which turned up a blue pill bottle with 47 oxycodone pills wrapped in plastic under the driver’s seat along with a marijuana cigarette found in the unlocked glove compartment, police said.

She was also found to have a suspended driver’s license for failing to pay a fine earlier this year, police said.

Ms. Onusaitis was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, criminal possession of a controlled substance and was issued a traffic summons. She was released on $100 bail and is scheduled to return to court next month.
