To the editor:

I can’t begin to tell you the effect your article about Miguel Borrayo and the teammates from Mattituck and Westhampton Beach had on me.

I cried when I read it because these kids have big hearts and they shared the goodness that’s in them with someone a little less fortunate. God tells us “to give to others and expect nothing in return.” They did just that.

I’m quite sure Miguel and his family will always remember Miguel’s thrill of a lifetime. They will also remember all the kids that contributed to the momentous moment when that basketball went through the hoop. God bless all of you. I, too, will not forget you kids, as you all deserve the sportsmanship award for the year.

Jean Cooper, Mattituck
