Greenport News: Ham dinner at Holy Trinity Church Feb. 17

Since I made a vow not to complain about the weather for an entire year, all I’m going to say is that it’s only 33 days until spring.

Melanie Moreau and Dan Creedon are very fortunate that all three of their daughters have had the opportunity to become world travelers through the exchange student program. Eldest daughter Erin is now studying in Barcelona, Spain, for the spring semester. I hope she enjoys the experience as much as her younger sisters did.

Holy Trinity Church will hold its annual Shrove Tuesday ham dinner at their Main Street parish hall on Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. The fare will consist of baked ham with raisin sauce, baked beans, potatoes, vegetables, homemade pies and cakes and coffee, tea and wines. The donation is $25 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Call Rich at 477-0855 for tickets and group seating.

Basketball season at Greenport High School has officially ended but I’d be remiss if I didn’t take a moment to congratulate coach Mike Miller and the JV boys basketball team for their undefeated-in-league-play season. Congratulations to each and every one of you on a job well done.

Florence Corwin passed away last week and my heartfelt sympathies go out to her children — Linda, Frank, Carl and Maria — and her brother, Gene Mazzaferro. Heaven has gained another angel.
