Photos: ‘Over the River and Through the Woods’ to open in Mattituck

“Over the River and Through the Woods,” a comedy by Joe DiPietro, will be presented Fridays through Sundays, March 13 to 29, at North Fork Community Theatre in Mattituck.

The production is directed by John Hudson and produced by Deanna Andes. The cast features Rick Peters, Marguerite Volonts, Manning Dandridge, Susan Wojcik, Bill Kitzerow (who is also assistant director) and Susan Hedges. 

The plot: Nick, who’s from an Italian-American family in New Jersey, has to tell his four grandparents that he’s taken a job on the West Coast. The news doesn’t go over well, and the two couples hatch a scheme to keep Nick close by.

The March 13 performance will be preceded by a free reception hosted by Community Action Southold Town in celebration of the organization’s 50th anniversary. Guests are invited to donate personal care/health and beauty items for distribution to those in need. Free Italian-themed receptions will be held Fridays, March 20 and 27.

All receptions begin at 7 p.m. Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30 p.m. Sundays.
