A Greenport resident found an unexpected visitor in his living room this morning.

As the Brown Street resident was in his bathroom getting ready for work at about 10:38 a.m., he heard someone walking around his living room. He opened the door and saw Anthony Chance, 34, of Greenport standing there, Southold Town police said.

The resident questioned why Mr. Chance was there and he responded that he was looking for someone, police said. Mr. Chance left the home when he was asked to and police later found him a few blocks away. He fled on a green mountain bike, police said.

Police arrested Mr. Chance and charged him with criminal trespass, a misdemeanor. He was released on $200 bail.

Mr. Chance has a history of similar incidents. He had been arrested at least three other times, including for felony burglary for an incident in January 2014, according to a prior report.
