Harlan B. Okun

Harlan B. Okun of Aquebogue died March 14 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. He was 68.

Mr. Okun was born March 2, 1947, in Brooklyn to Norma (Sternberg) and Carl Okun. He worked in sales for Cablevision in Riverhead.

Family members said he enjoyed golf, playing cards, and football. In the early 1990s, Mr. Okun coached the Greenport Porters high school football team.

Mr. Okun is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (née Walsh); his son, Brian of Patchogue; his daughter, Denise Bales of Texas; his stepchildren, Ryan Qualey of Riverhead and Brooke Qualey of Wading River; his sisters Sheri DeFreest of Florida and Dorene Cohen; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Sunday, March 22, from noon to 1:45 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner in Riverhead, where a memorial service will take place at 1:45 p.m. Interment will be private.
