Cutchogue News: Art show, antique fair set for Saturday
As we prepared for our Passover and Easter celebration — our link to redemption and salvation — world powers negotiated a framework with Iran that, one can hope, will slow down the nuclear process and calm angry emotions. May this be a step toward containing problems in the Middle East and improving our world situation. I hope that your Passover and Easter were happy and blessed, as well as the days ahead.
Over 100 North Fork Girl Scouts in grades pre-K through 12 danced the night away with their guests at the Me and My Pal dance. A longtime tradition, this year’s dance was organized by Nicole Brewer, Eileen Jaklevic and fellow leaders Courtney Meringer and Nancy Tramantano. The girls also snacked on yummy treats and made picture frames and fun was had by all! A big thank-you to Cutchogue builder Amos Meringer for creating the photo booth.
Where do the years go? A very apologetic belated happy birthday to Olivia Goerler, who turned 11 on March 6.
A belated happy anniversary to Jeff and Susie Smith. May your years together and the love you feel give you strength. Prayers of healing are being sent for your sweet granddaughter Livi. Congratulations and God bless!
You might imagine from a picture taken on their recent trip to Ireland that Erin Bozsnyak and Scott Worth felt they had the world at the tips of their fingers. And why shouldn’t they? Scott surprised Erin, his high-school sweetheart, with a proposal and beautiful ring! Their moms, longtime friends Laura Bozsnyak and Carol Worth, are thrilled! Congratulations and God bless!
When I was at CAST the other day dropping off a food donation, Island Harvest was there making a delivery. I couldn’t help but notice meat coming off the truck and, not surprisingly, I learned this was a rare occurrence, as most deliveries consists of nonperishable items. Island Harvest is a Godsend, but it’s not enough. This Saturday, April 11, CAST will hold its first food drive of the season at our local IGAs, King Kullen and Waldbaum’s. Please help out with a donation of food or a supermarket gift card.
The Old Town Arts & Crafts Guild will hold an indoor/outdoor art show, antique fair and country bake sale Saturday, April 11, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On the two following weekends, April 18-19 and 25-26, it will present Historical Art Collections of the North Fork. Want to leave your mark? Cutchogue New Suffolk Library’s Time Capsule Project on Friday, April 10, at 11 a.m. will give you an opportunity to do just that! All ages welcome. Moms and dads: If your fifth- through eighth-graders have some time to spend, bring them to the library Saturday, April 11, at 2 p.m. to make a DIY Mason jar. Call 734-6360 to register. Other events scheduled for Saturday include the conclusion of Tech Pet Week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; a chance to create an ornamental bouquet at 10 a.m. (registration and $12 materials fee required); and a book chat and signing with Joel Reitman at 2 p.m. On Tuesday, April 14, at 4 p.m. fourth- through sixth-graders chat about the book “Sisters.” Little ones age birth through 5 can enjoy a program with Lyrical Children on Wednesday, April 15, at 10 a.m.; and on Thursday, April 16, there’s Legomania at 10 a.m. for kids in grades 3-6. Join the North Fork Reform Synagogue for Holocaust Days of Remembrance. A special Yom HaShoah Shabbat service will take place Friday, April 17, at 8 p.m. to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising.
