Father Capon service set

A memorial service for Father Robert Farrar Capon, who died Sept. 5, 2014, will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 1, in St. Luke’s Chapel at Camp De Wolfe in Wading River. An informal reception will follow. 

Father Capon, who resided on Shelter Island at the time of his death, was dean of the George R. Mercer School of Theology in Garden City for many years and the longtime rector of Christ Church Episcopal in Port Jefferson. He also served at All Souls Church in Stony Brook, Little Portion Friary in Mount Sinai, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in East Hampton and, most recently at Holy Trinity in Greenport.

The author of best-selling books on theology and cooking, he was also a food columnist for Newsday and The New York Times.
