William A. Forte of Calverton, formerly of Cutchogue and West Babylon passed on April 28, 2015 at the age of 84.
Bill was born Sept. 10, 1930, in the Bronx to Anthony and Wilhemina Forte.
He was the beloved husband of Eleanor (née Strubel) for 55 years; the loving father of Krista (Patrick), David (Maria) and Stephen (Nancy); and the proud grandpa of seven, Daniel, Stephen, Alex, Matthew, Vincent, Sebastian and Guiliana. He was the brother of Richard, of Lombard, Ill. and brother-in-law of Norma and Walter Strubel.
Bill graduated from City College of New York and served in the U.S. Army Chemical Corps. from 1953 to 1955 as a 2nd lieutenant in Korea. He worked as a chemist for Polytex in the Bronx.
Bill was a member of Peconic Masonic Lodge 349 and Southold American Legion post 803.
Family members said Bill enjoyed classical music, boating, dancing and horseshoes.
The family will receive visitors Saturday, May 2, from to 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m Monday, May 4, at St Peter Lutheran Church in Greenport. Interment will take place at Calverton National Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church or East End Hospice.
