Georgia Francis Panagopoulos

Georgia Francis Panagopoulos of East Marion died March 30 at her home. She was 53.  

Georgia was born July 29, 1961, in New York City to Louisa (Rodriguez) and Ange Panagopoulos. She graduated from Greenport High School and attended Suffolk Community College. She worked as a waitress Hellenic Snack Bar in East Marion and also in Astoria.

Georgia was a devoted, caring and compassionate friend, who enjoyed helping people; lending an ear and making them feel better. She was a woman of character, integrity and grace. She was our cheerleader.

Georgia had a fantastic sense of humor, finding humor in the most mundane things. She could make you laugh until you cried.

A fashionista who loved disco and freestyle dancing, Georgia also loved to cook. She will be deeply missed.

Predeceased by her father, Georgia is survived by her mother and her brother, Theo.

A service took place April 3 at Transfiguration of Christ Greek Orthodox Church in Mattituck. Interment was private.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport.
