Linda Livni of Greenport passed away at her home Sunday, April 12, 2015.

Linda was born June 25, 1943, to Arthur and Sylvia (née Bloch) Levine. Linda lived most of her adult life in Greenport and in Jerusalem, Israel.

While in Greenport, she partnered with her father as proprietor of Arcade Department Store, and after his semi-retirement, she became managing proprietor. Linda was known for her community spirted efforts and her charitable works. The Arcade sponsored many community activities under her guidance.

Linda served as president of Congregation Tifereth Israel in Greenport. In Jerusalem, she took up the cause of many people in need, including the disabled. Linda was like an adopted mother to several young people and they remained close with her into adulthood.

In her late 60s, Linda obtained an emergency medical service license and in the last few years of her life, she annually traveled to an impoverished village in Africa, where she, along with two of her beloved cousins, provided free medical care to those who otherwise had no access.

She is survived by her sister, Greta Tedoff and brother-in-law Howard Tedoff of Manhattan; and brother David Levine of the Bronx. She is also survived by two nieces; two nephews; and six grandnieces and grandnephews.

Her arrangements were private, and a memorial service will be held at Congregation Tifereth Israel in June.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport.

This is a paid notice.
