Julia Margo Ambrose Praino

Julia Margo Ambrose Praino passed away April 30, 2015, at Riverhead Care Center.Julia was born Jan. 17, 1921, in New Suffolk to Pauline (Gallo) and John Ambrose.

Julia is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, John; her best friend and sister, Rose “Rosie” DiMarco of Riverhead and godchildren, Robert A. Sikora M.D. of Fredricksburg, Va. and Ashley Sikora Pamer, Esq. of Baltimore, Md. She also leaves behind her tender caretakers, Rainey, Sharon, Angela, Linda and Theresa, who loved and cared for Julia, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Julia was predeceased by eight siblings, Mary Irene, Mildred, Margaret, Frank, Ralph, Joseph and John.

Julia and Rosie were owners of Modern Beauty Salon on Griffin Avenue in Riverhead for 61 years. They were not only business partners, but were inseparable, spending their time shopping, eating out and being happy in each others company.

The family received visitors May 3 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead, where parish prayer services were conducted that evening. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated May 4 at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead, officiated by Father Larry Duncklee. Interment took place at Calverton National Cemetery.
