Mattituck’s boys and girls lacrosse teams will both open the 2015 playoffs at home, according to brackets released by Section XI.

The boys, who finished second in League IV with a 10-2 record, will host Port Jefferson on May 21. The Tuckers, who went 11-3 overall, are the No. 2 seed and the Royals are the No. 3 seed in Class C.

League IV champion Babylon is the No. 1 seed and will host No. 4 Center Moriches.

There’s a $6 admission to the game and the winner advances into the county championship May 27 at Stony Brook University.

The Tuckers will be vying for the first playoff win in the program’s five-year history. Last year, the Tuckers lost in the semifinals to Bayport-Blue Point.

The 11 wins this year is the most in the team’s brief history. The Tuckers won 9-3 against Port Jefferson in April and 15-4 in May.

The girls lacrosse team was seeded No. 4 in Class C and will host No. 5 Babylon at 4 p.m. Friday in an outbracket game.

The girls went 10-5 overall this year and 9-5 in Division II. They finished one game behind Shoreham-Wading River in power rankings despite a one-game better record. The Wildcats won a pivotal game May 6 against Mattituck, 5-4, allowing Shoreham to earn the No. 3 seed and a spot in the semifinals.

The winner between Mattituck and Babylon will move on to play top-seeded Mount Sinai in the semifinals.

The Tuckers won a 12-11 game against Babylon April 27.

This is the second straight year the girls have reached the playoffs and like the boys, they’re also in pursuit of their first win.
