Cops: Woman struck by car in Greenport

A 55-year-old woman suffered a head injury after being struck by a car in Greenport on Memorial Day, Southold Town police said.

The woman was transported via medevac to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.

A 2008 Dodge Caliber was headed eastbound on County Road 48 near Middleton Road at 11:29 a.m., police said, when the victim, Suzanna Galanis, stepped into the roadway and was hit by the car. No charges have been filed against the driver, a 47-year-old woman from Salem, N.H.

The Greenport Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to Moores Lane to await the Suffolk County Police helicopter.
