Mattituck-Cutchogue Little League held its third annual opening day parade on Saturday. More than 120 players, ages 4 to 13 years old, along with their families came out to kick off the season at Laurel Park.

The opening ceremony included formal introductions of all teams, the Pledge of Allegiance and three ceremonial first pitches. Pete Sabat, who founded Mattituck-Cutchogue Little League in 1968, was also on hand to celebrate the start of the 47th season.

“Fun,” Mr. Sabat said was the reason he launched the league.

There was plenty of that going around Saturday, especially for the players.

“I love the fun of playing baseball,” said 10-year-old Daniel Rosato, who has been playing in the league for six seasons.
