Southold blotter: Stolen binoculars, the fight that wasn’t and a missing car

Binoculars, a phone charger and an audio cable were stolen from a boat at Brewers Yacht Yard sometime last month.

The property’s owner reported the theft last Monday and said the items — worth about $170 in total — were taken sometime between May 18 and May 30.

• Police were called to Greenport skate park on Moores Lane last Wednesday after an anonymous caller reported seeing two young men fighting at the park.

A police officer who arrived at the scene found the two kids, who explained they were “just having fun” and that the fight “was not real,” according to a police report.

No further action was taken.

• A Nebraska man called Southold Town police Sunday evening to report his rental car had been stolen.

The 42-year-old man said he had parked a blue 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe near a Greenport restaurant and returned to find it missing. Four police units arrived on scene and two canvassed the area.

Eventually, one of the officers found the car parked “at another spot.” They returned to the man and explained where they found the car; the man realized he parked the car there himself and had forgotten.
