Cops: East Marion man charged with driving without license

An East Marion man with a prior DWI arrest was found to be driving with a suspended license after being stopped for a traffic violation Wednesday night, Southold Town police said.

Alfredo Mendoza-Garcia, 30, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, a misdemeanor, police said.

Police stopped Mr. Mendoza-Garcia on Adams Street in Greenport at 6:36 p.m. Wednesday. A DMV search revealed his license had been suspended. He was arrested and transport to police headquarters where police determined he had also been arrested in 2013 for DWI using the name Pedro Garcia with a different date of birth.

Police determined he was supposed to have an interlock device installed in his vehicle, police said.

He was processed and released on bail for a later court date.
