Longtime Cutchogue summer resident Edwin “Ed” J. Ruettiger of Peconic Landing in Greenport, died June 24 at Peconic Landing. He was 87.

Mr. Ruettiger was born March 31, 1928, in Forest Hills to Mae (Hanratty) and Joseph Ruettiger. He married Joan Quinn May 11, 1956, at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church in Brooklyn.

Mr. Ruettiger served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, achieving the rank of sergeant first class.

He was the owner of Ruttco Manufacturing Company in Forest Hills for 30 years and worked as an analyst for New York Board of Education for 10 years.

Mr. Ruettiger was an active member with the American Legion and received a 50-year membership award.

Family members said he was a champion bowler, a golfer and excelled at following and investing in the stock market.

Predeceased by his sister, Helene, he is survived by his wife; his five daughters, Patricia Zablocky, Linda Young, Cindy Sledz, Nancy Marsicano, Diane Pautke; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will take place Friday, July 3, at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport. Interment will take place at Calverton National Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to John’s Place at St. Agnes R.C. Church, 523 Front St., Greenport, NY 11944.
