Strawberry Festival organizers hope Sunday’s not a wash

In case you were planning on a Sunday at the Mattituck Lions Club Strawberry Festival but woke up to the disappointing sound of rain thumping on your back deck, don’t give up just yet. 

Event organizers say they are hoping for an 11 a.m. start today.

“As of 5:50 am, our hopes are that the weather will pass and it will be business as usual with an 11 am opening,” they wrote on their Facebook page. “While the festival is rain or shine, severe weather could limit that.”

They followed that up by posting an image of the News 12 forecast, which shows the storm passing in the 9 o’clock hour.
