To the editor:

It doesn’t sound like Steven Romeo’s drinking had anything to do with this accident.

There is most definitely a problem with causality — a connection between Romeo’s drinking and the happening of the accident. In my opinion, if he was not speeding (it’s a 55 mph limit on that road) and there was no time to stop even for a sober driver (and all this can be determined through accident reconstruction), then 100 percent fault for this accident lies with the limo driver.

The district attorney should not try to increase the charges, all things considered. If he does, it is simply because the D.A. wants to “look good,” but not “be good” or brave.
