Jean Mulligan

Dr. Jean Mulligan of Southold died Feb. 10, 2015. She was 71 and had been a resident of Southold since 1943. 

Dr. Mulligan began her career in education as a preschool teacher. She earned two masters degrees (English and Psychology) and was awarded her doctorate in clinical psychology from Hofstra University in 1983. Dr. Mulligan worked for the Seaford Union Free School District for 25 years and was its chief psychologist at the time of her retirement in 2008. In addition to serving Seaford schools, Dr. Mulligan maintained a private practice, assisting families in the Garden City area.

Family members said Dr. Mulligan was an avid gardener, boater and movie fan. She is survived by her children, Christopher, Sean and Jean and by her seven grandchildren.

A memorial will be held Aug. 1, 2015, at 2 p.m. at 1175 Bayview Avenue in Southold.
