A Greenport teenager faces a felony charge after refusing to cooperate with police and fighting with an officer Thursday night in front of the 7-11 in Southold, police said.
A Southold police officer suffered a dislocated finger after Eric Tonyes, 17, attempted to leave the scene while being interviewed by police and then fought with the officer, police said.
Mr. Tonyes was charged with second-degree assault, obstructing governmental administration and unlawful possession of marijuana. The officer responded to the scene just before 9:30 p.m. for a report of youths refusing to leave the location, police said.
Police said Mr. Tonyes was found in possession of marijuana, but did not say how much. He was transported to police headquarters to be held overnight.
