Cops: Southold man airlifted after Route 48 car crash

A Southold man was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital Thursday morning after a car struck his vehicle while it was broken down on Route 48 in Cutchogue, Southold Town police said.

Giovani Ramos was inside his broken down vehicle at around 7 a.m. when another vehicle crashed into it just east of Cox Lane, police said.

The second driver wasn’t identified in the police press release issued Thursday.

The release stated one of the drivers was arrested and charged with driving without a license. When contacted by a reporter, police could not immediately clarify which driver was arrested.

No other information was immediately available.

On Wednesday, another driver was airlifted following a car crash on Route 48.
