A Greenport man with an active warrant from the New York City Police Department was arrested in Mattituck Wednesday afternoon after being pulled over for a traffic violation, Southold Town police said.
Karon Grant, 30, was found in possession of marijuana and hashish, police said, and he was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
Police observed Mr. Grant cross over double yellow lines on Main Road near Handy Pantry at 2:43 p.m., passing a stopped marked patrol unit. He was pulled over and found to have an active warrant from the NYPD. He was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, police said.
Mr. Grant posted bail on the charges from Wednesday and was held for extradition by the NYPD.
