Southold police say drunken driving charges have been filed against two men, one of whom needed to be hospitalized because of his “high level of intoxication,” after their arrests in separate incidents Saturday.

At 3:55 p.m., police allegedly caught 36-year-old Andrew Watroba of Cutchogue driving with a suspended license. Mr. Watroba was pulled over on Main Road in Southold and was found to be intoxicated, according to a news release.

He was charged with aggravated unlicensed driving and driving while intoxicated, police said.

About seven hours later at 10:40 p.m., police received a call from an anonymous driver who said a vehicle was driving “all over the roadway” near Hummels Avenue in Southold, according to a news release. A police officer found the vehicle and pulled it over after the driver didn’t signal a turn.

The driver, 62-year-old Christopher Syrewicz of Southold, was drunk and needed to be taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital by Southold fire volunteers because he was highly intoxicated, police said.

Mr. Syrewicz was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and traffic infractions, and was given a ticket to appear in court at a later date.
