Longtime East Marion resident Nicholas Lagudis died Sept. 25. He was 94.

He was born May 19, 1921, in Chios, Greece to Maria (Anastasakis) and Stellios Lagudis.

Mr. Lagudis gradauted from Brooklyn Technical High School and was a member of the first graduating class of the Merchant Marine Academy of Kings Point. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine from 1941 to 1946, where he was deployed to Pacific, Atlantic and Mediterranean theaters of World War II. He held a master’s license, which allowed him to command vessels of all tonnage on every ocean.

Predeceased by his wife of 62-years, Esme, whom he married in 1953 in Brooklyn, he is survived by his children, Stephanie Neckles of East Marion, Maria Lechich of Manhattan and Stella, of East Marion; his brother, Gus and four grandchildren.

The family received visitors Sept. 28 at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A funeral service was held Sept. 29 at Saints Anargyroi, Taxiarchis and Gerasimos Greek Orthodox Church in Greenport, officiated by Father Gerasimos Dallas. Interment took place at Calverton National Cemetery.
