Evelyn Agnes Pollock

Lifelong Greenport resident Evelyn Agnes Pollock died Oct. 18 at Stony Brook University Medical Center.  She was 77.

She was born Aug. 1, 1938, in Greenport to William and Agnes Zebroski Pollock and attended Greenport Schools.

For many years, Ms. Pollock worked in the kitchen at Mitchells Restaurant in Greenport. She also worked in the fields at local vineyards and for local fish markets opening shellfish.

Family members said Ms. Pollock was the family historian, always keeping track of birth dates, special events and dates of death of family and friends. She acknowledged birthdays by sending special cards. Family members also said she loved animals, especially cats.

Ms. Pollock is survived by many cousins who lived throughout the United States.

A graveside service was held Oct. 24, at the family plot at Sterling Cemetery in Greenport, officiated by Father Richard P. Hoerning.

Arrangements were in the care of Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport.

Memorial donations may be made to San Simeon by the Sound Nursing Home or American Diabetes Association.
