Police identify body found in Goose Creek Tuesday afternoon

A 26-year-old Southold man was identified by police as the man whose body was discovered in Goose Creek Tuesday afternoon.

A resident discovered the body about 3:15 p.m. and police identified him as Paul Armstrong, who had been reported missing Saturday, police Chief Martin Flatley said.

“He was reported missing in that same general area,” Chief Flatley said.

Southold police and other police agencies were investigating the circumstances around Mr. Armstrong’s death, though they do not suspect anything criminal.

Police do not anticipate releasing any additional details.
