Cutchogue News: Kait’s Angels tailgate party at Sacred Heart University

Dot Charnews is excited to share that she’s been busy sprucing things up at Cutchogue Presbyterian Church.

You can honor Veterans Day by purchasing a flag for $5 that will carry a veteran’s name, rank and service branch. Proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. The flags will be displayed on the grassy area facing Highland Road and a small ceremony will be held at the church Sunday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. Contact Barbara McAdam at 734-5922 to purchase a flag.

The church also invites you to a spaghetti and meatball dinner Friday, Nov. 13, with seatings at 5 and 6:30 p.m. $15 per person; limited tickets available.

The Southold-Mattituck-Greenport NJROTC unit recaptured the first-place trophy and Commanders Cup at this year’s SUNY/Maritime drill competition! Among the winners were Commander Andreana Mineo, inspection team; Frank Imbriano, physical fitness challenge; Jaimie Gaffga, color guard; Sam Basel, first-place, individual drill routine; Commander Samantha Fine, unarmed squad; Justin Kirschberger, armed exhibition; Tom Olsen, individual drill routine; Ty Bugdin, armed platoon; Chris Dolce, armed squad; Owen Klipstein and Justin Kirschberger, two-cadet trick; and Skyler Grathwohl unarmed platoon.

Kait’s Angels invites you to join them and the Doorhy family at a Sacred Heart University homecoming tailgate party and football game this Saturday, Oct. 24. For $10 per person you’ll get a ferry ticket, game ticket and shuttle from Bridgeport to the game. Bring a dish to share and your own beverage. To RSVP, email [email protected].

As part of its Community Day of Service, Mattituck High School’s Class of 2016 is hosting a food drive for Kait’s Angels to benefit North Fork food pantries. Nonperishable items can be dropped off in the gym lobby at the high school on Wednesday, Oct. 28, between 8:30 a.m. and 2:15 p.m.

North Fork Reform Synagogue will sponsor a “Harvest Picks” concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Mattituck-Laurel Library. Hear East End Arts School students Brandon Boardman (piano), Brett Callagy (viola) and Sophia Dupuis (vocals). Admission is free.

The Rotary Club of Southold will hosts its annual scallop dinner at the Soundview in Greenport on Tuesday, Oct. 27, from noon to 8 p.m. Proceeds help Rotary support causes and organizations like Maureen’s Haven, CAST, Eastern Long Island Hospital and Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck, as well as provide scholarships for students at Mattituck and Southold high schools, and more! Tickets are $25 at the door or from any Rotary member. Takeout will be available.

‘New Beginnings,’ a support group for women who are widowed, divorced or without spouses is now forming. To learn more, call Heather Loria at 298-5049.
