Featured Letter: These soccer players are a gracious bunch

To the editor:

A couple of weeks ago, on a Thursday, my daughter and I stopped at the McDonald’s in Mattituck. I saw a school bus with the Greenport junior high soccer team.

I was hesitant about going in since I walk with a cane, but the coach, Greg Dlhopolsky, saw us and had his boys stand back and let us be waited on before them.

Not a grumble or sad face among them. Not only were they gracious, but very well behaved.

I asked the coach if they had won the game that late afternoon, but they hadn’t. But, in my eyes they will always be winners and you could see how much they admire their coach and respect him, too.
