Cops: Disoriented driver under influence of cocaine

A Middle Island woman became disoriented while driving on Route 48 in Southold after allegedly smoking crack cocaine, Southold Town police said. 

An officer on patrol noticed a vehicle stopped on the side of the road near Boisseau Avenue at around 1:13 p.m. Thursday. An investigation revealed Jessica A. Kurtz, 38, was driving the car and was under the influence of crack cocaine, police said.

Police found two small pills and other drug paraphernalia in the car. Ms. Kurtz was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors, police said.

A passenger was also in the car at the time, police said.
