Peter Fouchet enjoyed one memorable week last week, thanks to one memorable soccer season.

The Southold High School senior midfielder added several trophies and honors to his burgeoning collection after a stellar season for the First Settlers.

Fouchet, who helped Southold (14-3-1) to the New York State Class C regional final, was one of 14 Suffolk County players who earned All-New York State honors. He was selected to the third team, which was announced at the county boys all-star soccer banquet at Villa Lombardi in Holbrook on Dec. 8.

Fouchet and senior forward Joey Worysz (13 goals) also were among the 44 players named to the all-county team by the Suffolk County Soccer Coaches Association. Foucet also was named to Newsday’s All-Long Island second team. Fouchet finished tied for seventh among county goal scorers at 18.

So it should not be surprising that Fouchet was named the League VIII most valuable player while he was selected to the league’s all-conference team along with three teammates — senior midfielder Noah Mina, junior goalkeeper Dylan Clausen and Worysz.

Two Southold seniors, defender Josh Kettenbeil, and midfielder Walker Sutton, were chosen to the all-league team. A teammate, senior defender Aidan Walker, was selected to the academic all-county team.

First Settlers coach Andrew Sadowski, who also was honored at the dinner for earning his 250th career victory this past season, was named the League VIII coach of the year. Southold’s Greg Sanders was selected as the junior varsity coach of the year.

Southold became the 44th Suffolk team to finish the regular season undefeated and untied (12-0) since 1960. The First Settlers also finished unbeaten and untied in the regular season in 2008.

Mattituck (12-5) had three players picked to the all-conference team: sophomore Alex Rodriguez-Canal, who led all county sophomores in goals (15), senior midfielder John Batuello and senior forward Joe Tardif. Freshman goalkeeper James Jacobs, junior forward Chris Waggoner and senior defender Dan Fedun were named all-league.

Batuello also was named to the academic all-county team.

Greenport senior defender Justin Bracken and senior forward Bayron Rivas, who led the team with five goals, were chosen as all-conference players and junior defender Eduardo Sanchez was an all-league selection. Porters senior defender Nick Wallace was chosen to the academic all-county squad.

Greenport (2-12), coached by Chris Golden, also earned the League VIII varsity sportsmanship trophy while its junior varsity team, guided by Tom Taylor, also won similar honors at that level.
