Patricia Ann Vories

Patricia Ann Vories, also known as “Trish,”of Shirley was born June 21, 1954. Patricia returned to her heavenly home Dec. 17, 2015, after a valiant battle with heart disease. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Born and raised on Long Island, Patricia attended Greenport High School. After graduation she moved to New York City, where she met and married Will Roger Vories in 1979. She attended Medgar Evers College and then went on to enroll in Wilfred Beauty Academy, where she received a cosmetology license. Patricia was later employed by Estée Lauder as a line coordinator where she worked until her retirement.

Patricia was loving, caring, determined, and just a go-getter at heart. Anyone who know her would say “Trish don’t play.” She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be greatly missed.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Earline Hepburn of Greenport; her five daughters and two sons, Celeste Vories of Mastic, Antionette Brown of Coram, Natasha Brown of Bayport, Tyeisha Brown of Huntington and Alethia Brown of Shirley and Justin and Tramell Shelby, both of Centereach; six grandchildren, Lauryn Vories, Zaria Alston, Zyaire Jenkins, Haiden Brown, Roy Whitfield Jr. III and Maki Haynes Jr. She was predeceased by her sister Darlene Jackson and is survived by five sisters, Sarah Hill, Geraldine Carter, Sabrina Crenshaw, Christine and Mary Shelby; five brothers, Hanson and James Postwaite, Larry Shelby, Nathaniel Beckwith, Charles Shelby; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Homegoing services were held Dec. 28 at Clinton Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church in Greenport. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery. The Rev. Nathaniel Heyward Sr. officiated.
