Cops: 19-year-old stole cash from roadside wood stand

A Southold teen previously arrested for stealing from a vegetable stand has been arrested again, this time for stealing from a roadside wood stand, according to Southold Town police.

Brandon Cone, 19, has been charged with two misdemeanors for allegedly taking money from a wood stand’s cash box in Southold Tuesday evening, town police said.

According to a news release, Mr. Cone was seen taking cash from the box on Ackerly Pond Lane about 4:36 p.m. Police stopped Mr. Cone and found cash they say came from the wood stand. Mr. Cone was arrested and charged with petit larceny and possession of stolen property, police said.

He was taken into custody and held for arraignment.

Last month, Mr. Cone was one of two men arrested for stealing from a vegetable stand on Route 48, according to reports at the time. A Southold Town court clerk said that case — a misdemeanor petit larceny charge — no longer appeared in their system, but could not say whether it had been resolved.
