Peconic man arrested for skipping out on hotel bill

A Peconic man wanted for leaving a Southold hotel without pay was arrested Saturday after police caught him during a traffic stop, according to a Southold Town police report.

Philip Jannazzo, 42, was a passenger in a vehicle stopped on Route 48 about 4:13 p.m. for having an expired inspection, police said. Mr. Jannazzo was identified and arrested for an incident dating back to October 11, 2015 when he allegedly left the Heron Harbor Suites without paying, according to the police report.

He was charged with misdemeanor theft of services andtaken to police headquarters, where police learned he was also wanted on an active arrest warrant in Riverhead. He was released on cash bail for the Southold Town police charge and turned over the Riverhead Town police officers, according to the report.

Information about the Riverhead arrest warrant wasn’t immediately available.
