Bruce William Land of Greenport died Jan. 30. He was 45.

He was born Sept. 23, 1970, in Boston to Bruce and Karen (Kapp) Land.

After graduating from Mattituck High School, Mr. Land graduated cum laude from New York Institute of Technology, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications.

He briefly worked in the film industry, most notably traveling to locations such as Stonehenge, Pompeii and Israel’s Wailing Wall for the documentary series “Mysterious Places” with Stacy Keach.

Mr. Land was a member of Phenix Hook and Ladder Company, Greenport Fire Department. Family members said he was an avid photographer and videographer who enjoyed spending time with family.

He is survived by his mother; his stepfather, William Rich III; his wife, Shannon (née Verity) Land; his daughters, Sofia and Hanna; his stepsons, Christopher and Codey Fisher; his sister, Joanna Land Rallis; his stepsister, Elizabeth Rich Bourne and stepbrother, William Rich IV.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, Feb. 4, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport, where a firematic service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
