Cops: Wanted Southold man arrested after fleeing from police twice

A Southold man who was wanted by police led cops on two chases Saturday until he was eventually nabbed with the help of a K9 unit, Southold Town police said.

The man — 30-year-old Brian Shedrick — now faces a slew of charges, including resisting arrest, unauthorized use of a vehicle and two counts obstruction of governmental administration, police said.

According to a police report, Mr. Shedrick was seen driving with a revoked drivers license near 9th Street in Greenport. A cop stopped Mr. Shedrick, who fled from the scene. Later that evening, another officer spotted the man exiting his vehicle in Southold, police said.

According to the report, Mr. Shedrick fled on foot toward the rear of his home. Cops searched the are and caught Mr. Shedrick with the help of a K9 unit.

In addition to the above charges, Mr. Shedrick was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and multiple traffic violations, police said. He was held for arraignment in Town Court.

Saturday wasn’t the first time Mr. Shedrick has been accused of resisting arrest. In 2010, he pleaded guilty to bail jumping, resisting arrest, second-degree criminal contempt and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, according to a Suffolk Times report.

He was sentenced a total of 180 days in county jail for the offenses and fined $700.
