Greenport man tries to file police report, arrested on bench warrant

SHCourt

A Greenport man walked into Southold police headquarters Sunday night to file a police report.

But he ended the night in handcuffs, after police figured out he was wanted by the town court for failing to appear for a DWI case back in 2010, according to a police report.

Andrion Santos, 39, entered the headquarters just before 8 p.m. to file the report when an investigating officer discovered Mr. Santos had an active bench warrant, police said. The warrant out of Southold Town Justice Court was issued after Mr. Santos didn’t show up to a court appearance after he was accused of driving drunk and aggravated unlicensed driving in August 2010, according to the report.

He was held by police for arraignment in Southold Town court, police said.
