Thor Brock Pettersen

Former Mattituck resident Thor Brock Pettersen of Vergennes, Vt. died Feb. at the age of 90. 

He was born in Manhattan Dec. 20, 1925, to Karen and Thoralf Pettersen.

Thor was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and flew out of Italy on a B-17 as a nose gunner.

He married Mary Belski, of Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1945 and lived in Port Washington and Mattituck

Thor enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and painting. He was a Freemason, a member of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter and the American Legion.

Predeceased by his wife, Mary and his son, Gregg Pettersen Sr., he is survived by his two daughters, Karen Pettersen of Ferrisburgh, Vt. and Laura Woodhull (Terry) of Cutchogue; his grandchildren Julie Brown (Greg), Stacy Van Duzer (Jesse), Frank Jarzombek, Gregg Pettersen Jr. (Ashley), Kristina Pettersen (Daniel) and his great grandchildren, Aidan Pettersen, Cameron Brown, and Avery Van Duzer.

Service for the family was held at Calverton National Cemetery
