Frank R. Kruszeski of Greenport died March 13 at San Simeon by the Sound in Greenport. He was 82. 

Frank, known as “Bob” to his family and friends, was born in Greenport in 1933 to Frank and Alice (Mysliborski) Kruszeski. After attending Greenport High School, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he attained the rank of sergeant.

Bob returned to Greenport and went to work for Suffolk County Department of Public Works on one of three county owned dredges. Bob transferred to the Suffolk County Highway Department where he rose to the position of zone supervisor in charge of Suffolk County’s eastern zone. He retired in 1988 after 25 years.

Bob enjoyed scalloping, clamming and making fresh horseradish with his family and close friends.

Bob is survived by his second wife Jean (née Gordon); his children Frank Kruszeski Jr. (Lauren) and Joanne Duggan (John); his stepchildren Karl Gordon (Monica), Nancy Ryan, and Fred Gordon (Gael), 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Alice Doroski and Patricia Gadzinski. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, March 17 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, March 18 at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Greenport Fire Department Rescue Squad.
