Achievements: NROTC midshipmen take part in ship selection draft

Navy Midshipman Katherine Bertschi of Southold, a biological sciences major at Tulane University in New Orleans, recently participated in the NROTC ship selection draft as a future Navy surface warfare officer.

Upon graduation, she will be commissioned as an ensign aboard the USS Preble, an Arleigh-Burke-class guided-missle destroyer based in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Navy Midshipman Tracy Grim of Cutchogue, a mathematics major at Villanova University, recently participated in the NROTC ship selection draft as a future Navy surface warfare officer. Upon graduation, she will be commissioned as an ensign aboard the USS New York, an amphibious transport dock whose bow was forged from steel salvaged from the World Trade Center.

Maryanne Fitzgerald of Laurel has been named to the fall semester dean’s list at Endicott College in Beverly, Mass.

Scott Adler of Southold, a graduate of Otago Boys High School in New Zealand, has earned the fall semester dean’s award for academic excellence at Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y.
