Behind the two-hit, 10-strikeout pitching of Pat McFarland and aided by seven bases on balls, Southold defeated Greenport, 10-1, in the season-opening game for both high school baseball teams on Tuesday at Southold High School. Southold scored in each of the first four inning to reach a 7-1 advantage, and never looked back. Runs batted in were spread among six batters in the middle of the batting order. Greenport’s lone RBI was from the bat of Matt Tuthill, who played catcher before moving to second base late in the game.
