March Madness. If you don’t watch it, this would be the year to give it a try. There have been some major upsets; thank goodness Duke wasn’t one of them. My boys are still dancin’.

Greenport Cub Scout Pack 51 ran their 2016 Pinewood Derby March 4. The winners were Andrew Campbell, first place; Nate Stevenson, second place; and Thomas Arena, third place. Trophies were also awarded in each Den for Best Workmanship, Best Design, Best Engineered and one Special Achievement trophy. Congratulations to all the boys in the Pack.

Earlier this month, family and friends gathered at Brecknock Hall to celebrate the 95th birthday of Josephine Watkins-Johnson — much to her surprise. (She thought it was going to be a small family get-together.) I can’t think of a nicer person to celebrate. Belated happy birthday!

The GHS All-Class Reunion is just around the corner and, once again, signs are for sale to commemorate a person, advertise your business or send a message to a classmate or teacher. It’s yours to keep after the event or it can be stored by the committee.

This year’s signs will cost $25 each, measure 18 by 24 inches and be purple with yellow letters. You can order yours by sending a check payable to GHS All Class Reunion to Rose Heaney Baker, 230 The Green Way, East Marion, NY 11939. Make sure to be specific about what you want on the sign and please include your return address and phone number in case Rose needs to contact you.

My sincerest sympathies go out to Jeanne Gordon Kruszeski, who lost both her mother, Margaret Deale, and her husband, Frank “Bob” Kruszeski, last week. My sympathies also go out to Bob’s children, Frank and Joanne.

Birthdays will be celebrated very soon by Matt Swain, Kelly Comiskey, Chris Sponza and Victoria Carosone on March 24; Jeff Bubb on the 26th; Carol Giovannelli on the 27th; Tracy Kruszeski, Kimi Meraz Finne, Brian Waters and Mackenzie Jacobs on the 28th; Debbie Volinski, Marylin Daly, Vincent Leone and Nicholas Wallace on the 29th; Scott Dinizio and Dr. Bobby Wysocki on the 20th; Emily Hubbard and West Ruroede on the 31st; Mindy Doroski, Kathryn Welch and Damien Warren on April 1; my brother-in-law Matt Tooker and his grandson, Grayson Tooker, on the 2nd; Emily Allen, Michelle Rempe and Kaitlyn Butterfield on the 3rd; Charles Gates, Kevin Sage, Dottie Mellas and Lara Hunt on the 4th; and Kim Volinski and Jenny Gould on the 6th.

Happy anniversary to Amie and Frank Sponza on March 24; Dawn and Chris Herbstritt on April 2; Pura and Billy Capone, also on the 2nd; and Dawn and J.R. Jacobs on April 6.
