Mary Anne Gilligan of Greenport died March 30. She was 92. 

Mary Anne was born July 12, 1923, and was the daughter of Martin T. and Mary O. Gilligan.

Predeceased by her brothers, Joseph and John, and her nieces Cecilia Beckwith and Marie Denise Valocchi, Mary Anne is survived by her niece Monica and nephews Joseph (Terry) and Christopher, as well as seven grandnieces and grandnephews, two great-grandnieces and one great-grandnephew.

Mary Anne attended Marymount College in Tarrytown, N.Y., and earned a Master of Arts from Columbia University Teachers College. She taught for 35 years in New York City public schools. After retirement, Mary Anne taught CCD classes at St. Agnes R.C. Church religious school in Greenport. She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, Friends of Floyd Memorial Library, Stirling Historical Society and was an avid Red Sox fan.

The family will receive visitors Monday, April 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
