Mattituck News: School sports physical information

Prom night is this Friday — an important event for many of our young people. At 6 p.m., the PTSA will generously host a pre-prom reception for Mattituck students on the school’s front lawn. Community members, family and friends are all invited to come see them all dressed up, having their names announced and enjoying refreshments. Then the students board buses for the Hyatt in Riverhead for a night to remember.

Many college graduations are accompanied by the hope that employment is not far behind. So congratulations to Bentley College graduate Megan Conklin, who has already secured a full-time position in Portland, Ore. She’ll put her accountancy degree to work at Precision Cast Parts Corporation, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, in the financial development program at its Deer Creek Airfoils Facility.

Happy birthday wishes go to the following people for the end of May and beginning of June: Lucas Sisson, Eric Koch, Aidan Carter, Wendy Zuhoski, Anne Bruno, Matthew Wilsberg, Jeff Smith, Michael Lentini, Cory Dolson and Anne Smith.

Belated happy birthday to Talia Aiello, who blew out 16 candles May 19.

To celebrate 50 years of marriage, Linda and Henry Kozen took their grandchildren, Missy and Robbie, on a Caribbean cruise. Congratulations on your June 12 golden anniversary.

The Mattituck Fire Department invites you to attend its Car Show at the former Capital One building on Main Road Saturday, May 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds will benefit scholarships to be given at graduation.

On a personal note, I unfortunately had to ask for help from our volunteer firemen on two recent occasions. Whether they were former students, old friends or new acquaintances, each and every one was professional, kind and made a difficult situation better. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

And speaking of former students, congratulations to Joey Macari and Erin Van Etten, who exchanged wedding vows last Saturday. I ran into Joey two weeks before the wedding and I can say he was over the moon with excitement about the prospect of marrying his best friend. May your journey together be wonderful!

Is your child considering playing a sport at MHS this fall? If so, a sports physical is needed. The school physician will be available for exams on Thursdays, June 9 and 16. To make an appointment, call the health office at  631-298-8471, ext. 3271.

Memorial Day brings the wearing of red, white and blue, barbecues and saluting our service men and women. Why not mark the occasion by watching our NJROTC cadets march in the Mattituck or Greenport parade as well?
