TAIDAN WALKER

VALEDICTORIAN

GPA: 98.81 (unweighted)

College plans: University of Notre Dame

Major: undecided

Music and lyrics: Aidan has played the cello for eight years as a member of the New York State Summer School of the Arts, Metropolitan Youth Orchestra and All State Symphony Orchestra. He also has performed with Southold’s jazz band and select choir and in the pit orchestra for school musicals. He has attended multiple local music festivals and plans to continue playing in college.

Aidan said he enjoys being part of an ensemble, especially “when everything fits together right and I get to hear the result of our work.”

Athletic achievements: Aidan played junior varsity and varsity soccer, basketball and tennis in high school. He was an All County Academic player in soccer and basketball and made All League for tennis. During his senior year, he was captain of the basketball and tennis teams.

Extracurriculars: Aidan served as president of the National Honor Society and senior class board, was a member of the Academic Quiz Bowl team and was a regional and New York State Top 10 winner in DECA.

Outside the classroom, he was an altar server at St. Patrick R.C. Church, volunteered at Southold Historical Society, provided music at Orient United Methodist Church and for other community organizations, performed with the Playback music group and interned as a gallery docent at Southold Historical Society’s Cosden-Price Gallery.

Parting words: “I would say to reach out and join clubs or sports that might interest you. Definitely participate in your classes, but I think you learn just as much from things outside of the classroom, too.”

TNOAH MINA

SALUTATORIAN

GPA: 97.03 (unweighted)

College plans: Providence College

Major: biology

High honors: Noah received high honor roll distinction all 12 quarters in high school and was a member of the National Honor Society and Student of the Month for Spanish. He earned the Suffolk Zone Physical Education Award and was a News 12 scholar athlete, a high school basketball scholar athlete and a baseball Academic All League recipient.

Team player: Noah played soccer, basketball and baseball throughout junior high and high school. He earned numerous awards during his time on the field, having been part of a two-time Class C county championship team and All Conference in soccer, a defending Class C Southeast Regional champion in basketball and an All League player in both. He was also captain of the soccer, basketball and baseball teams.

“I spent almost every day on the field or the court,” he said. “It’s where I lived in high school.”

Doing it all: Noah was a company senior chief in NJROTC, a DECA state and regional winner and played trombone in the jazz ensemble and the pit orchestra for the Southold Drama Club. Outside school he was an altar server at St. Patrick R.C. Church and did local landscaping, beach cleanups, snow removal, boardwalk repair and tutoring through the National Honor Society.

Parting words: “I’d just say not to have any regrets. That was my goal. And the couple of extra hours of studying is worth it.”
