Frank J. Densieski

Fomer Riverhead resident Frank J. Densieski,  died June 2, 2016, at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center in Greece, N.Y. at the age of 86.

He was born in Center Moriches Oct. 12, 1929, to Mary (née Trojanowski) and Adolph Densieski and was a graduate of Riverhead High School.

Frank served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was assigned to the USS Northampton. After four years of service, he was honorably discharged as a seaman.

On Feb. 6, 1955, he married the former Joyce M. Tyska and together they made their home in Riverhead. For 25 years, he was a weapons technician with Grumman Aircraft.

In 2003, he and Joyce relocated to Hiawassee, Ga. where they lived until 2015. For the past year, they resided in Irondequoit, N.Y.

He is survived by his wife Joyce; three children, Christopher J. Densieski of Rochester, N.Y., Diane Strickland of Roanoke, Texas, and David M. Densieski of Manorville; a brother, Sonny Densieski of Riverhead and five grandchildren, Amanda, Brittany, Chelsea, Andrew and Benjamin J. Densieski. He was predeceased by siblings, Theodore and John Densieski, Althea Cartoski and Florence Sendlewski.

The family received visitors June 6 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck, where funeral services were held, officiated by Dan Reiter. Interment, with U.S. Naval honors took place at  Calverton National Cemetery.
