Greenport’s Class of 2016 puts bow on graduation weekend
While their peers across the North Fork tossed their caps Saturday, as has become tradition Greenport’s senior class had to wait an extra day to graduate.
More than 50 students wrapped up their high school educations at the school’s 135th commencement Sunday.
The lively ceremony included an encouraging commencement speech from class of 1994 Greenport High School graduate Dr. Omar Armstrong.
Dr. Armstrong reminded graduates to think positively, work hard and make a plan.
After several student speeches and remarks from valedictorian Liam Lieblein and salutatorian Rosemary Volinski, the class turned their tassels and headed out to the front lawn for the traditional and long awaited hat toss.
