Looking for a relaxing way to spend your evening? Then stop by the outdoor amphitheater at Southold Elementary School Friday to enjoy the 1970s classic “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.”

The school will host a screening of the popular movie as a fundraiser for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) research. The proceeds will be donated to Ride for Life in memory of late chef Gerry Hayden. The idea came from sixth grader Isaiah Mraz, whose parents co-owned the North Fork Table & Inn with Mr. Hayden and his wife, Claudia Fleming.

“Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” was chosen because it was one of Mr. Hayden’s favorite movies, Isaiah said in May.

The movie will be screened at 7:30 p.m.

Individual tickets cost $5 or $20 for a family. All children must be accompanied by an adult and guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs as amphitheater seating is expected to fill quickly.
